Hurray for Elizabeth Riley

It was sooooooo much fun. Thanks to all of you who came out last Thursday to the Elmdale, it was a blast! You guys are the best. I can't even pick my favourite moment.

And a big thank you to our mystery man - now revealed as AL WOOD, a great musician and a great guy. He laid down a bass line that kept us grounded and added just a touch of funk at times! Al is a blues man who is Ottawa based and Soo-originated, and he is a finalist in two categories in the 2009 Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards.

He has an AWESOME new CD out, "Mood Swingin' Blues"... check out his original music (and buy, buy, buy!) at alwoodmusic.com

And I'd also like to thank Jeannette for the Jager shooter. She stayed on at the end of her shift to hear our first set, which is a huge big deal. You rock, Jeannette!

Jon (also a great sound man!) thanks for the image, bro.

The Tennessee Set

Last time we played at the Elmdale, a really cool and kind friend (thanks, Andrew!) video'd the whole thing, then took and made separate little videos of each song. It turned out really well.

This little grouping of songs, we call our Tennessee set; Patricia and I always dedicate it to Roberta and Philip Lee, down in New Brunswick. The Lees, who hail originally from the Tennessee part of the world, were our generous hosts at Lepreaufest back in 2007.

Signs of Spring

1. The smell of dogshit
2. Noisy ice on Dow's Lake
3. Red-winged blackbirds
4. Hating all my clothes
5. ...

Am I the only one who starts hating all my clothes in the spring?

The Mystery Man

Mike has to be away on the 26th, so we were lucky enough (right place, right time kinda thing) to get a certain mysterious musician-type - I can't say who - to play bass with us at the Elmdale. He's a debonair man-about-town, hold on to your hearts, ladies! He plays all over the place these days and just released an album to critical acclaim. He doesn't usually play the bass. But who is it? It's a mystery...
